Is it safe to compress images with this tool?

Yes. Unlike most online compressors, ZeroPNG processes images entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly. Your files are never uploaded to any server, so there is zero risk of your images being stored, accessed, or leaked.

What is the best image format for websites?

WebP is the best all-around format for most web images. It is about 30% smaller than JPEG at equivalent quality and supports transparency like PNG. AVIF is even smaller but browser support, while now very broad, is slightly less universal. Use PNG only when you need pixel-perfect lossless quality, such as screenshots or illustrations with hard edges.

Does the tool preserve EXIF metadata after compression?

For JPEG output the tool re-injects the original EXIF segment (including GPS, camera model, and creation date) after compression, so your metadata is preserved. PNG, WebP, and AVIF output does not carry EXIF data because the canvas API strips it during re-encoding, which is common for all browser-based tools.
