What scale should I use for Retina or HiDPI displays?

Use 2× for standard Retina displays (MacBook, iPhone). Use 3× for high-density Android screens. Use 4× when you need a very large raster version for print or presentations. The scale multiplies the SVG's native pixel dimensions, a 100×100 SVG at 2× exports as 200×200px.

Does the SVG converter support transparent backgrounds?

Yes. When exporting to PNG, transparency from the SVG is preserved in the output file. If you export to JPG, the transparent areas are filled with white since JPG does not support transparency.
